Robby’s passion for motorsports began when he was very young – he grew up around race cars and was able to share his passion with his father, who has been an SCCA member since 1986. At the young age of 8, Robby began his driving career and it became apparent that he had a natural talent and he soon began to experience and enjoy success in karting.  Soon after he began karting, Robby began to compete nationally in Auto-X, traveling to National Tours and Pro-Solo’s with his dad. Robby ran karts nationally from 2005 to the end of 2009, earning numerous trophies, including a 3rd place finish in the 2008 Tire Rack SCCA Solo National Championships and a 2nd place overall in the year-end Pro-Solo Championship.

After 2008, Robby had grown to be over 6ft tall and 180lbs. The power to weight ratio was unfavorable for racing, so Robby put it to the side for a while. He took this time away to focus more on football and baseball. On September 11, 2010, Robby severely injured his left leg, tearing his LCL, ACL and PCL, breaking his tibia, fibula and ankle, and suffering a peroneal nerve palsy. Following surgery and rigorous therapy, Robby regained the ability to walk and turned his focus back to racing. In April of 2011, fresh off of crutches, Robby attended a Skip Barber School at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca to transfer from driving a kart to a car. At the age of 15, after successfully transitioning into cars, Robby sought to get his SCCA license. Very few people are eligible to be cleared, but due to his strong resume showing previous experience and that he can be trusted on a racetrack, Robby was approved. And since then, he has never looked back.
